Memory Wall

We all have lost someone in our lives….partner, family members, friends…..The emptiness that we feel, the heartache, and the sadness that takes over.  It’s the memories that we have of them that will continue to live. And I think when you share those memories it just continues……

This is the wall……where we will always remember……

A friend of mine recently lost his dad. I haven’t asked if I can put the information on here therefore, this is all I will mention right now.
I also recently met someone over 4th of July weekend who lost his dad as well. I have a picture of his dad that I will post on here as soon as I get that scanned.  I never met his dad but from speaking to other people he was a great man and enjoyed his life.
A good friend of mine lost her dad as well not too long ago…you can read about it here:http://emmersblog.wordpress.com/2008/01/19/my-granddaddy/

She shared this poem with me over the 4th weekend so, I will leave you with it:

A  Happy Thought

Assuming this is the last day of my life
(which might mean it is almost the first),
I’m struck blind but by my blindness is bright.

Prepare for what’s known here as death;
have no fear of that strange word forever
Even I can see there’s nothing there

to be afraid of: having already been
to forever I’m unable to recall
anything that scared me, there, or hurt.

What frightened me, apparently, and hurt
was being born.  But I got over that
with no hard feelings.  Dying, I imagine,

it will be the same deal, lonesomer maybe,
but surely no more shocking or prolonged–
It’s dark as I recall, then bright, so bright.
